Ryan Patrick showcases the Ancient Lakes AVA with its dry, crisp, aromatic white wines, crafted without added sugar or concentrates. With distinct fruit flavors and natural acidity, these wines are a great introduction for anyone seeking a better-for-you wine option from the Ancient Lakes of Columbia Valley.
Ryan Patrick founders Terry and Vivian Flanagan were among the first families to plant grapevines across Washington’s Ancient Lakes AVA. The Flanagans named the winery in honor of their two sons and continue to develop and share Ancient Lakes’ penchant for cool-climate white wines with the world.
Located in the rain shadow of the Cascade Mountains, the Ancient Lakes AVA gets its name from the 35 high-elevation lakes scattered across the region. Due to the northerly location of the AVA, it experiences a true winter with freezing temperatures, which reduces disease pressure and allows for more sustainable farming methods. The Ancient Lakes AVA lies at a higher elevation than its neighbors, leading to naturally lower temperatures ideal for white wines like Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Albariño, Pinot Gris and Chardonnay.
With three tasting rooms, Ryan Patrick offers immersive experiences in the Ancient Lakes terroir. Showcasing the depth and diversity of the appellation’s soils, climate and energy, the family’s refreshing wines are vivid translations of the Ancient Lakes AVA.
